It’s Good To Be Back!

Hello fellow bloggers!  I have missed you.  If you are familiar with my blog, you know that we attempted IUI # 3 in May which was a difficult failure.  I was ten days late which NEVER happens but I was not pregnant.  I decided to take a little break from all things related to infertility until we started IVF in August.

One thing I really missed is following the stories of my fellow bloggers.  Today is the first day I have logged on in a month and the first thing I did was catch up on other people’s journeys (while keeping my fingers crossed that they had good news to share!).  I am in full IVF mode now so I look forward to reading more updates 🙂

I also wanted to thank everyone for the support and encouragement we have already received.  It means so much to me to know that we are not alone.  This is especially true since we have officially started our first ( and hopefully only) IVF cycle!  Here is what has happened so far:

Last week I started birth control.  It feels so weird to take it.  It has been so long!  Additionally, my RE conducts extremely thorough labs before we are able to start fertility medications.   In addition to screening for all the regular stuff, they do a complete prenatal profile as well as a thorough genetic screening.

Today I had my first appointment.  Part of the itinerary included going over all my lab work.  Everything looked great minus my genetic screening.  Why might you ask?  Apparently LabCorp lost my blood work for genetic testing.  WTF!  How do they lose something like that?  Originally they said I did not give them the forms for that which I know I did.  They then spent a while looking for my labs.  Eventually they did find it but it was not stored correctly (apparently is was misfiled as well or something) so those labs are no longer any good.  After my appointment, I went back to LabCorp to redo those labs.  They promised they would not lose it this time and would process them ASAP.  My RE will not start medications until everything is back.  It should not be an issue assuming everything is done correctly this time.

At my appointment, we also did a transfer practice run.  I knew we had to do that but did not realize it was done so early.  They gave me pain medication and said some women experience cramping and discomfort but I had no issues.

So where does that leave us?  As soon as our labs are cleared, I can order medication and get this crazy process started!  As always, I greatly appreciate any tips, suggestions, feedback, etc.  I know there are no guarantees but I finally feel that we may be getting closer to the answers I have been looking for.  I have not felt this kind of peace in a long time. xoxox  – Jennie

  • Wishing you all the best! It sounds like you’re a bit ahead of me on your IVF journey. We have our patient education, testing, etc. on Wednesday.

  • Welcome Back! I hope the lab gets it correct this time and everything from here on out proceeds smoothly. I wish I had some kind of advice but we haven’t gone down that road yet. I’ll be here cheering you on though!! Hugs!!!

  • LabCorp “forgot” to do a test for me before too, sooo frustrating! It was the one test I’ve had to keep begging for (free T3) and I haven’t been able to get it tested again since 😦
I hope they get yours right this time!
